The Insular Directorate of Planning of the Territory and Historical Heritage of the Cabildo de Tenerife dictated today, Tuesday, June 28, a resolution that maintains the precautionary suspension of a part of the works of the Cuna del Alma urbanizationwhich are being carried out in the area of the Port of Adeje. In this space there has been partial destruction of archaeological remains, which constitutes an administrative infraction classified as very serious.

The Cabildo will transfer the resolution to the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islandsfor the purposes of initiating the corresponding procedure, and must rule on the maintenance, or not, of the precautionary measure of suspension in the area.

The complaint filed by the Tegüico Patrimonial Association before the Insular Corporation motivated the realization of an inspection in the area where the works are carried out, which occurred on May 24, the day after receiving, via wasap, said complaint. After this inspection and within the process of reviewing the project documentation that the Cabildo was already carrying out, it was found that the patrimonial study was not available, a document that the promoting entity had presented to the Government of the Canary Islands.

For this reason, on May 31, a resolution was issued for the precautionary suspension of the works, until said archaeological study was carried out, which had already been presented to the Island Corporation, where the heritage elements of the scope of action of the works were analyzed, as well as as the corrective measures proposed.

On June 1, the agents of the Historical Heritage Administrative Service carried out a new inspection visit, accompanied by technicians from the Adeje City Council, the archaeologist hired by the promoter and its personnel. After this visit and the analysis of the technical documentation, it is concluded, among other issues, that it is essential to carry out an archaeological monitoring task by a technical specialist in Archaeology, who must supervise and execute all the protection measures planned.

The resolution issued today, Tuesday, June 28, will be notified to the promoting entity, to the Adeje Town Hall and to the Ministry of Ecological Transition of the Government of the Canary Islands, in addition to the aforementioned General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands.
