SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 28. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has reported four new cases and five under study, four probable and one suspected, due to a possible diagnosis of monkeypox since yesterday.
This means that there are a total of 45 confirmed cases since the start of the health alert declaration, of which 32 were detected in Gran Canaria and 13 in Tenerife.
All the cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care, except for one patient who is admitted to the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 45 confirmed cases, 32 in Gran Canaria and 13 in Tenerife; four probable cases, pending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife, and one suspected case, pending confirmation, registered in Gran Canaria.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
