The Canary Islands register four new cases of monkey poxas reported today by the Ministry of Health in a statement in which it adds that a suspected case is added due to a possible diagnosis.
The Health Administration indicates that with the data of the last 24 hours, since the declaration of the health alert the Islands have registered a total of 45 confirmed casesof which 32 were detected in Gran Canaria and 13 in Tenerife.
All the cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care, except a patient who is admitted to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows:
- 45 confirmed cases32 in Gran Canaria and 13 in Tenerife.
- Four probable casespending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife.
- a suspicious casepending confirmation, registered in Gran Canaria.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in this case it is considered a suspected case.
