The City Council of Los Realejos enabled a public and accessible parking area in El Horno, after the acquisition of a plot and its conditioning with an investment of 55,640 euros through the Neighborhood Plan. The mayor, Adolfo González, inspected the results of the work, together with the Councilor for Public Works, José Andrés Pérez, before proceeding with the commissioning of this new facility.
Adolfo González announced that the Consistory contemplates an operation of acquisition of land or recognition of ownership, as a previous step to its rehabilitation and conditioning to enable public parking in various places.
“We are aware that it is a question of a growing citizen demand that we are trying to satisfy as much as possible in different neighborhoods”, such as the cases of Toscas de Romero or Tanque Arriba, indicated the realejero mayor.
The alderman recalls that he is in the process of preparing a plot at the entrance of the municipality through the area of La Montaña. He emphasizes that his government prioritizes the study of alternatives for new parking areas in other areas, such as Calle Los Afligidos, the nucleus of Toscal Longuera, in La Cartaya, in Icod el Alto or in San Agustín.
For the specific case of El Horno, the mayor highlights “the historic parking difficulties of this residential area, formed on both sides of a steep road with narrow sections.” He alluded to the fact that this solution is agreed with the neighbors, who have more than twenty parking spaces in use, one of them for users with reduced mobility.
The councilor for Public Works points out that the area also has places for motorcycles, in addition to having the corresponding central space for maneuvering and vehicle entry and exit traffic, preserving the right of way to the back towards the adjoining plot, he clarified the mayor
