SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 24. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Canary Islands have registered since the last data update last Tuesday a total of 2,493 new positives in COVID-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic .
Therefore, the accumulated number of coronavirus cases among this group amounts to 75,992 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 1,067.20 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 548.74.
This has been reported by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, following the new indicators included in the Strategy for Surveillance and Control of COVID-19, agreed by the Ministry of Health with the autonomous communities.
Currently, in the Archipelago there are 296 people admitted with coronavirus, of which 20 are in the ICU and the rest, 276, on the ward. On the other hand, the Canary Islands registered eight deaths in the last three days, of which six occurred in Tenerife and two in Gran Canaria.
All the people, aged between 83 and 91 years, except one case of 59, had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
