Yet another case of monkeypox in Canary Islands. The Ministry of Health of the Regional Government has confirmed a new diagnosis and announces that there are two other probable ones that are under study, according to data collected since yesterday.
This means that there are a total of 38 confirmed cases since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, of which 27 were detected in Gran Canaria and 11 in Tenerife. All cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands from the beginning of the alert and until today they are as follows:
- 38 confirmed cases27 in Gran Canaria and 11 in Tenerife.
- Five probable casespending confirmation, three notified in Gran Canaria, one in Tenerife and another in Fuerteventura.
- three suspected casespending confirmation, all in Gran Canaria.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in this case it is considered a suspected case.
