SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Council of Ministers has approved today Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, allocate 3,563,569 euros to the Canary Islands to help families in the acquisition of textbooks and teaching materials. The total distribution approved for the autonomous communities is 58,559,610 euros, and the execution period runs until December 31, 2023.
The objective is to help families in the acquisition of textbooks and teaching materials in all types of media, including digital, to compensate for the most unfavorable socioeconomic situations and to help the educational system guarantee equity in education and equality of rights and opportunities.
For the distribution of the funds, coming from the General State Budgets of 2022, the rate of risk of poverty by autonomous community and the number of students enrolled in compulsory primary and secondary education in each community have been taken into account.
The credit will be used for the acquisition of these materials for the primary education courses and compulsory secondary education for students in centers supported by public funds. The autonomous communities may also allocate part of these funds to grant aid in Baccalaureate and Vocational Training courses.
