Turismo de Tenerife, a public entity dependent on the councildelivered yesterday to a total of 84 groups of the Santa Cruz Carnival of the sponsorships with which it supports its activity, amounting to 62,895 euros, distributed among 17 adult murgas, 16 children10 adult comparsas and one child, five rondallas, musical groups and groups for the elderly, two lyrical musical groups, 16 choreographic groups, nine musical groups and eight for adults.
He did so during a meeting held at the Tenerife Auditorium, in which the island’s president, Pedro Martín, underlined “the involvement, dedication and effort” of these groups, “which are a fundamental part of maintaining the quality and prestige of the festivals ”, as well as “for tourism promotion”.
“Carnival is born in the street, from the groups, from the people who make them up. Months of rehearsal, dedication and passion for a few days of shared happiness that we resume this year with great enthusiasm, after a very difficult stage, in which we have not been able to celebrate together”, highlighted the president.
For his part, the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, stressed that “Carnival groups are the true essence of the festival, there are thousands of people who make up this citizen network, which, after two years of many difficulties, He’s back with more enthusiasm than ever. They are also ambassadors of the Carnival, which projects the image of Santa Cruz and the Island in Europe and America”.
The island’s director of Tourism, Laura Castro, recalled that the Cabildo has been promoting “the destination icon party” throughout the year at different national and international fairs and events, and through specific campaigns, such as the one being carried out in the main urban centers of Madrid, Seville and Bilbao, as well as in the media, to reinforce the presence of the Carnival and boost the arrival of tourists.
