SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 20. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Secretary of Organization of the Canarian PSOE, Nira Fierro, has denied this Monday that the victory of the PP in Andalusia, added to those of Madrid and Castilla y León, supposes a “change of cycle” in Spanish politics, although she has said that it is necessary to do a “deep reflection” on the match and “stop and think” about the future.
In statements to Europa Press, she has indicated that we must “work” to design “a good project” that will give “good results” to the PSOE in the coming years and in the specific case of Andalusia, she is convinced that the colleagues “will respond” .
Fierro has commented that the Andalusian elections were the third advanced elections in Spain due to “partisan criteria” that suited the PP and he takes as a lesson that “it is increasingly difficult to get it right” and the parties must focus on “working to win the elections”.
He has indicated that “it is evident” that in the case of Andalusia “it is not a good result” but he understands that there is no need to fall into “discouragement” because it is not the first time that the PSOE has lost an election and then “recomposes itself and returns to win them.”
Thus, he has said that his party is the one that governs Spain, “the reference of the left and it will continue to be”, underlining, regarding the moderate profile of the popular candidate, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, that “citizens are tired of the noise, it’s normal”, and “it has been good for them”.
Fierro understands that the fact that VOX does not have decision-making power in Andalusia “is good news” but now he hopes that through the PP there will not be a “dismantling” of public services as usually happens in the case of health.
Regarding a possible repercussion of the results of Andalusia in the Canary Islands, he pointed out that the PSOE of the islands has been promoting “social peace” and good “coexistence” in the public sector for some time and trying to “consolidate” what was achieved in 2019, with the electoral victory of Ángel Víctor Torres that earned him access to the regional government in a progressive pact together with ASG, NC and Sí Podemos.
Thus, he has indicated that now they are going to work “with greater strength if possible” and with a “consolidated leadership” of the president and a “party behind” that supports and promotes him, something “recognized by the citizenry”, in such a way that he sees a “different scenario” in the archipelago with respect to Andalusia.
