The Popular Party asks that the Technological and Renewable Energy Institute (ITER) “be led by a professional with scientific training, a manager with a technical profile and exclusive dedication.” ITER has become an international benchmark research center in renewable energies, engineering, telecommunications, the environment and genomics.
The popular councilor Valentín González Évora points out: «Until now, the CEOs who have managed the area have been lawyers without scientific-technical training and without exclusive dedication». González understands that “for ITER to consolidate itself as a benchmark in R&D, it needs a management that has the technical knowledge to contribute to its growth.”
ITER has more than 200 professionals, whose work, says the defender of the initiative, “has allowed it to become a research center of international reference.” González Évora maintains that the fact that “it is directed by a person with scientific-technical training instead of by lawyers will help ITER take off and its structure will improve its performance.”
