The Autonomous Organization of Culture of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (OAC) has installed the monumental sculpture by the artist Parvine Curie Personnage au portique on Avenida de la Asunción, the result of the generosity of the artist and the collaboration agreement that the Organization has with the Official College of Architects of Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro (Coactfe) for the development and materialization of its acquisition and subsequent assignment.

The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, was delighted with the transfer of the sculpture, “which comes to add to the characteristic and singular personality of Santa Cruz, which is fundamental in the iconography of our city” and took the opportunity to thank “That this exhibition would not have been possible without the figure of the architect Vicente Saavedra, to whom this city owes a lot”.

The president of the OAC, Gladis de León, assured that this initiative “meets our interest in having a sculpture that expands the historical heritage of the city.” In addition, she added that “it will integrate the historical route of the International Exhibition of Sculptures in the Street, which held two editions in this city and has bequeathed us masterpieces by artists of the stature of Joan Miró, Martín Chirino or Óscar Domínguez”.

For his part, the president of the College of Architects, Argeo Semán, expressed his satisfaction “for the effort of the work carried out in the commission and, of course, to the artist for her donation of a sculpture that comes to complete those that are already in the street just when in February of next year we are going to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the exhibition”.

Of Franco-Iranian origin, Parvine Curie made her first sculptures in Barcelona, presenting her first individual exhibition at the French Institute.
