The Santa Cruz Fairground hosts for two days, yesterday and today, the exam to obtain the artisan card. On the other hand, Tenerife shows in La Orotava part of its craft legacy related to emigration in a new edition of Las Noches del MAIT.
The tests to obtain the card began yesterday with the modalities of embroidery, openwork, ceramics, chandlery, crochet, macramé, leather goods, rosettes and glassware. Today, from 9:30 a.m., it is the turn of the following trades: Almazuelas, carpentry, fabric decoration, joinery, bookbinding, jewelry, toys, models, miniatures, dressmaker, dolls, paper and cardboard, recycling of materials, weaving and traditional costumes.
On the other hand, the Museum of Ibero-American Crafts of Tenerife (MAIT) organizes today, at its headquarters in La Orotava and starting at 9:00 p.m., the show Emigrants, coming and going, which highlights the cultural heritage of both shores of the Atlantic. The act represents a new edition of the event Las Noches del MAIT 2022, promoted by the Cabildo through the Insular Craft Company. This cycle of activities aims to bring citizens closer to the treasure that the Museum guards, from leisure and entertainment.
The scheduled show includes a performance by the group Añate. Through traditional island music and popular Latin songs, the feelings of Canarian emigrants in search of a better future are described.
