There are few beaches for dogs in Tenerife, specifically three: El Confital beach in Granadilla de Abona, El Cabezo beach in Güímar and El Callao/Las Bajas beach in Arona. However, the fight to enable a greater number of sandbanks that dogs can access is alive.

Some people like Cristo Gil, founder of Orion Animal Rescue Brigadework so that beaches like Las Teresitas can be included in this list, so in January 2020 “we decided to collect 7,000 signatures by hand asking for a limited area for dogs in Las Teresitas”, Gil explains in a interview granted to DIARIO DE AVISOS.

Taking into account the extension of the coast of the Island, it would be expected that many would consider that the kilometers of coastline suitable for dogs to enjoy a dip are scarce and that is that there are currently only three beaches for dogs in Tenerife, which we expose below .

1. El Confital, beach for dogs in Granadilla de Abona, Tenerife

dogs are welcome in The Confitala beautiful corner of Tenerife with gray sand from which you can see Montaña Roja.

It also receives the name of El Horno beach and it is located in one of the places where the wind and the waves create attractive conditions for surfing, El Médano, so it not only attracts attention for being one of the beaches for dogs in Tenerife but also causes a sensation between the surfers.

2. El Cabezo, beach for dogs in Puertito de Güímar, Tenerife

The El Cabezo beachbetter known as the Puertito de Güímar beachis one of the few sandbanks on the island that have an area for dogs.

Access to the beach is very easy and there is parking, although in summer it is quite difficult to park, as there are many who want to enjoy its waters during these months and the walk along the coast.

Likewise, El Cabezo stands out for having black sand, although it has areas of shut up and rocks. For its part, the waves are calm thanks to the presence of breakwaters, so it is great to go with children, who will also enjoy a fantastic day at the beach with their pets.

3. El Callao/ Las Bajas, dog beach in Arona, Tenerife

The El Callao or Las Bajas beach, is an extensive pebble beach located in Arona. It is mainly characterized by allowing access to dogs, as well as by the tranquility conferred by not being within the hustle and bustle of the nearest tourist areas.

This stretch of the Canary coast stands out for conserving its natural charmdecorated by the combination of sand and stones, together with the vegetation and the geological structure that have been maintained over time.

If you decide to visit Las Bajas with your pet, it is important that you remember keep it clean and it is that, the owners are responsible for collecting their excrement, as well as for respecting the environment and the coexistence of all those who want to enjoy the beach.
