The total household waste received last year in the Tenerife Environmental Complexlocated in Arico, was 527,301 tons, which represents an increase of 2% compared to 2020. The municipalities dumped 412,917 tons (78%), while the garbage generated by individuals amounted to 114,384 tons (22%). This was stated yesterday at the Tenerife Waste Management monitoring commission and the Organic Fertilization Board, a meeting chaired by Javier Rodríguez, island councilor for Sustainable Development and the Fight against Climate Change.
“Once the review process of the call for the award of the AG2 plot has been completed, the contracting committee has considered that the proposal received does not contemplate all the requirements required to obtain this tender, for which reason this tender has been declared void. , and in this commission all the circumstances related to the elaboration of a new call will be analyzed”, remarked Javier Rodríguez. For the minister, this is “bad news” because “it will delay the implementation of the change in the island’s waste management paradigm.”
