The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandsthrough the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), has launched a campaign to disseminate health risk prevention messages during carnival festivitiesand aimed primarily at young people and adolescents, using social networks.
The objective of this initiative is to remind the population of the basic measures to prevent possible damage caused by excessive consumption of alcohol and other drugs and risk behaviors that can favor the transmission of so-called sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. , in addition to raising awareness of the need to maintain an active attitude against sexual assault, which must always be reported.
Likewise, the campaign insists on prevention measures against COVID-19, an infection with which the Ministry of Health reminds us that “we continue to live together”, to avoid contagion among the population most vulnerable to the coronavirus, that is, older people. and immunocompromised patients.
In this sense, the importance of maintaining a safe interpersonal distance, the use of the mask in the most vulnerable areas, performing frequent and correct hand hygiene and maintaining good ventilation in closed rooms is recalled.
With these basic measures, it is avoided to put at risk the population most susceptible to serious clinical conditions in case of contracting SARS-CoV-2 infection. The seven pieces that make up this campaign, which will be disseminated on the social networks of Canarias Saludable, are carried out by the usual characters and iconography of this digital channel.
