Guía de Isora has been recognized for its commitment and work to improve waste management, sustainability and environmental protection. Its mayor, Josefa Mesa Mora, collected the Golden Broom, an award that values the result of this task and was awarded by the Technical Association for Waste and Environment Management (Ategrus). The councilor received both the statuette and the diploma certifying the recognition in an act held in Madrid.
The Technical Association for Waste Management and the Environment celebrates its Silver, Gold and Platinum Broom Contest every two years, in which the work of the different administrations and companies in the field of waste management is recognized following strict sustainability criteria and respect for the environment.
In the words of the Isorana mayor, “this is an award for the work of many people: the companies, the staff who work every day in street cleaning, the employees of the concessionaire responsible for waste collection…”. Mesa recalled that Guía de Isora won the Silver Broom “a few years ago”, so winning the gold one is “an incentive and an indication that we are on the right path.”
Table was accompanied at the ceremony by the Councilor for the Environment, Francisco Baute, and by the Mayor of Municipal Services, Bruno Domínguez.
