Gustavo Perez, mayor of Guimaris clear that “the process of the construction of the slope in Las Bajas is entrenched And it will end up in court. He assumes that it is the judicial route that will determine the definitive solution to the excess of expense that this intervention registers, that of the 342,865 euros for which the invoicing of the works was contracted, it adds up to almost a million and a half, a figure that yesterday denied to the Plenary the councilor for Urban Planning and mayor at the time of deciding and starting this work, Airam Puerta.

The mayor explained that the continuity of the works, initially declared an emergency, was adopted by the municipal Contracting technician, the representative of the UTE, the director of the work, Puerta himself in his capacity as mayor and the intervener, “of telephone manner. We all “agreed” to continue with the work “enabling credit through the legally established channels, attending to the emergency declared and in force,” according to the person in charge of Urban Planning today.

Before the plenary session, he affirmed that the company was the one that proposed relocating the neighbors of Las Bajas and subrogate the cost of the lease, as well as looking for alternative housing. The objective was to accelerate the beginning of the works. It happened once the works were awarded and without having indications that they would only pay the first three months of the execution of the work, he said.

For know why the City Council does not pay this excess cost of the work, Puerta sent the PP – party that requested the extraordinary plenary session held yesterday – to the municipal legal services, which, in turn, transferred the popular to the report that it prepared last November.

For his part, the mayor hopes to diligently enable the mechanisms that allow aid to be provided to residents of Las Bajas who have been rehoused and are already in a situation of eviction for non-payment of rent.

In addition, Gustavo Pérez was emphatic in assuring that “there will not be a pyramid in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento”, contemplated in a project for its reform that has generated debate and criticism in the güimarera society.
