The delegate councilor of the Development SocietyAlfonso Cabello, held a meeting yesterday with the vendors of the Santa Cruz Trail to organize the return of the market to its usual environment, a return that is scheduled to begin at the end of July, “if the administrative deadlines allow it,” said the mayor at the end of the meeting.
The mayor explained that “we have explained what the distribution of the stalls will be, as well as the way in which we are going to reorganize the area, to improve both the experience of the vendors and to reduce the inconvenience to the neighbors, which, in recent weeks, they have sent us their suggestions”. Some complaints that have led to the birth of an Association of People Affected by the Rastro that asks that it be kept in its alternative location, since the residents of the area understand that the inconvenience caused by the assembly and disassembly of the Rastro, as well as the massive influx of people, prevents their right to rest every Sunday.
Cabello pointed out that the return of the Rastro to its usual location, in the surroundings of the Market of Our Lady of Africa, is done based on what is collected in the regulatory ordinance of the street market, which also includes the number of positions to be placed, which is about 412.
The Rastro cannot be held during the weekend of Carnival in the street, next week, to guarantee security, since from Friday to Sunday the night party will be linked with the Day Carnival.
