The Council of Tenerife The remodeling and burying project of Álvaro Rodríguez López street as it passes through Alcalde José Emilio García Gómez street, at the height of the Meridiano shopping center in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is being completed, an action that is expected to be tendered throughout this same summer and immediately afterwards, once awarded, begin work on the bus lane in Santa Cruz.
This project, with an initial amount of bidding of 300,000 euros, plans to build two tunnels at the intersection of these two streets, one to extend the BUS-VAO lane that comes from the TF-5 to Fomento street, in front of the Santa Cruz bus interchange, in order to facilitate the access of the buses to this infrastructure, and another to bury the normal traffic of vehicles between Álvaro Rodríguez López street and Adán Martín Menis street, and avoid traffic jams at the entrance of Santa Cruz that end up having repercussions on the TF- 5 upon arrival in the city.
As indicated by the Cabildo in a statement, the City Council is aware of the intention of the island corporation to tender the project.
Last year, the head of the local corporation, José Manuel Bermúdez, was informed of the project, since the action on Adán Martín Street would be municipal competence and would require an agreement between both administrations.
In addition, for technical reasons, the work of the two burials should be carried out simultaneously, the note specifies.
Once confirmed “the common interest of both parties in advancing in this solution to the problems in the accesses to the city, we are sure that the project will advance quickly for the benefit of the chicharreros and, in general, of all the people of Tenerife”, he asserts. the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León.
