SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 15. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife is already completing the remodeling and burying project of Álvaro Rodríguez López street as it passes through Alcalde José Emilio García Gómez street, at the height of the Meridiano Shopping Center, an action that is expected to be tendered throughout this same summer and immediately afterwards, once awarded, start the works.

This has been reported by the island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, following the fact that the Councilor for Public Services of the Santa Cruz City Council, Carlos Tarife, has asked the Cabildo to “start working on a project with a view to burying in a future that lane”.

José Alberto León pointed out that this project, with an initial tender amount of 300,000 euros, plans to build two tunnels at the intersection of these two streets, one to extend the BUS-VAO lane that comes from the TF-5 to Fomento street, in front of the Interchange, in order to facilitate the access of the buses to this infrastructure, and another to bury the normal traffic of vehicles between Álvaro Rodríguez López street and Adán Martín Menis street, and avoid traffic jams at the entrance of Santa Cruz that end up having repercussions on the TF-5 upon arrival in the city.

José Alberto León has assured that he is surprised by the claim that is now being made in the media by Councilor Carlos Tarife, when “the City Council is aware of the Cabildo’s intention to put the project out to tender”. “Last year the highest leader of the local Corporation was informed of our project, since the action on Adán Martín street would be municipal competence and would require an agreement between both administrations. In addition, for technical reasons, the work of the two burial sites would have to be done simultaneously,” he added.

“I am sure that there will also be no problems to co-finance these works that will advance Santa Cruz to become a friendlier city for pedestrians and to be able to enjoy more fluid and safer access to the shopping center from Tres de Mayo,” added the director. insular.

According to José Alberto León, “once the common interest of both parties in advancing in this solution to the problems in the accesses to the city has been confirmed, we are sure that the project will advance quickly for the benefit of the chicharreros and, in general, of all the people of Tenerife”.
