The capital of Tenerife will host this weekend eurorainbowa music festival with Eurovision reminiscences dedicated to prioritizing diversity and tolerance, and in which an attempt will be made to break the Guinness record for the largest concentration of people dressed as ABBA.
Among the artists who will take to the stage located on Avenida Francisco La Roche, the winners of past editions of Eurovision Conchita Wurst, Loreen and the Ukrainian Jamala stand out, among others.
But one of the outstanding events will be the celebration of the ‘EuroChallenge’, a challenge that each year will invite attendees to actively participate in the festival.
In this first edition, it will consist of breaking the world record of people dressed as the four members of the legendary Swedish band ABBA, of which a tribute will be celebrated with a special concert by a tribute band.
To do this, the organization hopes to gather at least 10,000 people.
For this EuroChallenge, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be invited to verify the record on the day of the event.
In addition to the musical offer, the festival also includes in its programming the ‘EuroTalks’, expert conferences for reflection and debate, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday, at 12:30 p.m., in the Art Space La Recova of the chicharrera capital.
In the presentation of the festival, the mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, highlighted that the city “is preparing to live an intense weekend: Carnival, Eurorainbow and a possible promotion of Tenerife”.
The Councilor for Culture, Gladis de León, pointed out that Santa Cruz receives an event of this level for the first time, with which “we confirm our commitment to musical diversity.”
Both the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, and the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, have highlighted the importance of this festival for the island, both at a tourism level and for the LGTBI+ movement.
The director of the festival, Olga Payar, thanked the involvement of both the Santa Cruz City Council and the Cabildo de Tenerife.
