The Municipality of Los Realejos will take its ornithological tourism attraction strategy Los Realejos Birdingcommissioned in 2019, until the Ornithology Fair of Castilla y León Ornithocyl 2022which takes place from this Friday the 17th to Sunday the 19th of June in The Herradon of Pinaresin the province of Avila.
This tourist event for bird lovers will gather around 35 exhibitors in which nearly fifty brands related to the field of ornithology from different points of Spain. In the latest edition of it, ornitocyl was attended by 5,000 visitorsincluding family activities, conferences, book and documentary presentations, bird watching, astronomical observations and nature tours.
It is now three years since the Consistory of Los Realejos published a specific ornithological tourism guide that collects and catalogs a hundred references to birds visible from the municipality and the different sighting points, “a document that will be the protagonist of the promotional material that we will present at the fair and that we will complement with other of our guides on different royal attractions such as its gastronomy, its heritage, its natural resources, its festivals, among others”, adds the Councilor for Tourism, Elizabeth Socorro (PP).
Socorro and the deputy mayor of Los Realejos, Noelia Gonzalezheld a meeting this Tuesday, June 14, at the Municipal Tourism Office together with the technical staff of the area, Elena Gonzalez and Gaspar Plasenciaand the municipal photographer, Isidro Felipe Acostain order to coordinate the next visit to ornitocyl of these last two to promote the tourism strategy Los Realejos Birding.
Noelia Gonzalez indicated that “this visit by the municipal technicians will be used with the promotional material of ornithology of The Realejos to spread in turn in a potential event for it the second edition of the International Nature Photography Contest NaturViera 2022 of the municipality, whose admission of works will be available from next July 1, a contest that in its first edition last year already achieved the participation of half a thousand photographers with 1,600 snapshots from 25 countries”.
The mayor of Los Realejos, Adolf Gonzalezhighlights that “the objective is to continue positioning the Los Realejos brand and its derivatives, such as Los Realejos Birding either NaturVierain this case, in areas related to national and international tourism linked to nature, making visible our potentialities and particularities in the natural environment, orography, climate and biodiversity”.
The Guide Los Realejos Birding
The aforementioned promotional guide Los Realejos Birdingwhich will be distributed at the fair Ornithocyl 2022, incorporates brief technical sheets of each species that indicate data such as length and wingspan, its scientific name and its denomination in Spanish, English, French and German, thus facilitating its identification for tourists from different origins. Most of the images are the work of the municipal photographer himself, Isidro Felipe Acosta, also taking snapshots of José Manuel Siverio, José Juan Hernández, Francisco Cruz Alvarado, Josep M. Torras Payerol and Pedro Felipe Acosta. The guide includes an identification map of the municipality and also cites a description of up to eight sighting points with their corresponding coordinates so that they can be identified and accessible by nature lovers, scientists, professionals and amateurs in the audiovisual field. The species most likely to be seen from each of these places are collected in each section. The area of El Riego is a privileged space for the observation of species such as the turqué and rabiche pigeons, the sparrowhawk, the common buzzard and the tagarote falcon, among others. The great variety of all protected realejero spaces and the wealth of fauna that they harbor, have made it possible for ornithological tourism to begin to spread, a type of nature tourism that increasingly has more followers in the world.
