La Orotava prepares a special security device

La Orotava prepares a special security and health care device for the big week of its festivities, especially between June 22 and 26, when the most massive acts are concentrated: the presentation of the wine harvest (Wednesday 22), the day of the carpets (Thursday 23), the magician’s ball (Friday 24), the livestock fair and the Ascent of the Saints (Saturday 25), and the pilgrimage of San Isidro and Santa María de la Cabeza (Sunday 26).

The Local Safety Boardchaired by the mayor, Francisco Linares (CC), was in charge of coordinating all this device and the different action plans. The president highlighted the exemplary work of the security operation in previous editions and the good general behavior of neighbors and visitors, “because they are parties attended by thousands of people and where there are no relevant incidents.” Although the acts of santa cruz carnival coincide with the dates of the Fiestas de La Orotavait is not expected that this will influence the number of participants in the main shanty town events, scheduled for next week.

This year it will be counted again in the days in which the main events take place with a large device of more than one hundred troops of Local Police, Civil Guard, Canarian Police and Civil Protection and Red Cross volunteers. “Everyone will act in a coordinated manner so that the intervention and response to any incident is as effective and in the shortest possible time,” warns the Villero Government.

Councilor for Security, Narciso Perez (CC)was in charge of exposing the details of the operation, highlighting the main lines of the extensive device that has been planned and that starts in a special way on Wednesday 22 with the eve of the Infraoctave of Corpus Christi and the Presentation of the Harvest of Wines of the Denomination of Origin Valle de La Orotava which will take place in the avenue Mercedes Pinto. As for this event, this year it has been decided to a capacity of 5,500 people so that the public can enjoy as comfortably as possible. The venue will open its doors at 7:00 p.m. and you can enjoy the local wines until 12:30 a.m. The mayor clarifies that “for this event an operation has been designed that will not only be aware of the interior of the venue, but also of the exteriors, thus guaranteeing the safety of all attendees. And, in the same way, special attention will be paid to the thousands of people who visit La Orotava to contemplate the great tapestry of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. An intense afternoon before the big day of our festivities”.

For him Wizards Dance, among the novelties of this year, the change of location of one of the stages stands out. Due to the rehabilitation works of the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the stage that is traditionally located in that place moves to Franchy Alfaro squareso there will be the same number of spaces, although distributed differently.

As for the pilgrimage, Pérez reported that the place where the carts are unhooked is changed at the end of it. In previous years it was held on the old Ramal highway, but after several meetings with representatives of the Liceo de Taoro and with the Association of Carreteros, agree that “it is necessary to opt for a larger and safer space”. For this reason, the carts, at the end of the Pilgrimage, will be located on Obispo Benítez Avenue in Lugo.

Sanitary operation

A very important part of the operation is the health part. The city council has trusted, one more year, in Red Cross, which will be in charge of providing health support to all events. It will count with a field hospital in the Doña Chana Cultural Park from Wednesday 22 to Sunday 26 June, the day of the Pilgrimage of the patron saints. “This space has been chosen again due to the good results of the last editions, since the venue has the ideal characteristics for patient care, assistance to relatives, as well as the necessary logistics for emergency resources,” he details. Narcissus Perez. The medical post will have the capacity to attend to thirty people.

The latest edition of the popular wine tasting of the La Orotava festivities The day

The mayor highlighted the involvement of the entire team that makes up the Security area (Local Police, Cecopal, municipal technicians and Civil Protection) who have spent many weeks finalizing all the details of each of the acts and those who have intense working days with Civil Guard and Red Cross.

Mayor Francis Linares thanked, once again, the work that all the emergency services are going to carry out, “an essential part so that we can all enjoy our Festivities safely, and that our neighbors and those who visit us can have fun with peace of mind on these long-awaited dates ”.

Extension of hours

On the occasion of the arrival of the Big Week of the Festivities of La Orotava, the Villero City Council has also arranged the extension of the closing hours of the bars and restaurants of the municipality, allowing establishments to meet customer demand these days. This is an exceptional measure that will be included in the Mayor’s Decree.

On the night of Wednesday, June 22, the eve of the Infraoctave of the Corpus Christi, to Thursday, they can close their doors until 3:00 in the morning. While the night of the wizards ball, have a maximum closing time of 6:00 a.m. (early Friday to Saturday). And all this in compliance with the noise regulations applicable to each establishment according to its category.
