SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 15. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The student Alicia Úrsula Duque Ojeda, who is in 1st year of ESO at the Colegio Hispano- Inglés de Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will represent the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands this year at the private audience that King Felipe VI will offer to the winners of the 41st edition of the contest What is a king for you?, promoted by the Spanish Institutional Foundation (FIES) and the Orange Foundation.
After knowing the decision of the jury of the contest in an act celebrated today Wednesday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Alicia will have the opportunity to meet Don Felipe and show him the work with which he has won the contest in his Community: an original digital infographic, in which has inserted a successful drawing of the monarch made by the Canarian schoolgirl herself.
This portrait is surrounded by brief “pills” of information with which, in a very visual and quick way, the young woman from Tenerife summarizes some of the main functions of the monarch as Head of State, Captain General of the Armed Forces or representative of the country beyond of our borders.
Alicia’s work thus follows the line that has been promoted in recent editions, encouraging students to present work in new digital formats, such as storytelling (story or narrated story), music video, computer graphics, projects linked to robotics or 3D animation, along with other more traditional creations (painting, sculpture, writing, etc.). In this way, it is intended to promote the initiative and entrepreneurial spirit of the young contestants, while at the same time enhancing the necessary skills and abilities in the new digital society.
During the audience with Don Felipe, whose date will be announced soon, the 20 winners of the 41st contest What is a king for you? they will show the works with which they have won the regional competitions in their respective autonomous communities or cities, as well as in the national category of Special Education. Once again, these 20 young artists, advised by their teachers and tutors in the realization of their work, will show their affinity and sympathy towards the figure of the Crown through their creativity.
After 41 editions, the contest What is a king for you? It has become an unmissable event in the educational programs of Spanish schools. On this occasion, 467 students from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grades of Primary, 1st and 2nd of ESO and special education up to 18 years old, from 28 centers, participated in the Canary Islands. In the event held today at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government, the 40 works -from 8 schools- that have been finalists among all the participants in the Community have also been exhibited.
