The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has recorded three confirmed cases and three under study for a possible diagnosis of monkeypox since last Friday, of which two are probable and one is suspected.
This means that there are a total of 25 confirmed cases since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, of which 19 were detected in Gran Canaria and six in Tenerife, as reported by the Ministry.
All cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 25 confirmed cases, 19 in Gran Canaria and six in Tenerife; five probable cases pending confirmation, four in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife; and five suspected cases, pending confirmation, three of which have been detected in Tenerife, one in Gran Canaria and one in Lanzarote.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
