SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 13. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife develops a new edition of the ‘Tenerife Urbano’ program to promote sport among the youth population by bringing them closer to urban sports modalities, attractive to them and with which they fill parks, squares and streets.
The island councilor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, pointed out that “this year the program will take place in four municipalities on the island, Los Realejos, Granadilla de Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Candelaria.”
‘Tenerfe Urbano’ has a wide range that includes skateboarding, BMX, parkour, calisthenics, urban dance and ‘battle of the roosters’.
Rivero emphasized that “the idea is to attract young people to prevent them from abandoning sports practice, although the program is open to all audiences” and announced that “a Tenerife urban dance championship will be held in September.”
He also said that they are looking to interact and try these increasingly common disciplines on the street.
“As a counselor I will support all sports, those that have the most licenses and followers, but also those that are called minorities, the new forms of expression that little by little are better known throughout society,” added Rivero in the presentation.
The director of ‘Tenerife Urbano’, Ivo López, broke down the details of this edition, which is designed for all audiences and will take place on June 18 at the Basilio Labrador complex in Los Realejos, on July 16 in El Médano, Granadilla, on August 6 at La Granja Park in Santa Cruz and on September 10 at Alsaca Park in the municipality of Candelaria, always from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
On the other hand, the island’s director of Sports, Ángel Pérez Peña, stated that the idea is to present an attractive leisure offer and encouraged everyone, young people and adults, to participate in the planned activities.
During the presentation, which was attended by the Sports councilors of Los Realejos, Santa Cruz and Candelaria, Benito Dévora; Alicia Cebrián and Manolo González respectively, there was an exhibition of calisthenics, skateboarding, bmx and an improvisation by freestyler Ákata.
