SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 13. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Parliamentary Group Sí Podemos Canarias has requested the resignation of the president of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet, if the possible resolution of the Constitutional Court (TC) in favor of returning the seat to Alberto Rodríguez is confirmed.
The spokesperson for the Sí Podemos Canarias Parliamentary Group, Manuel Marrero, has indicated in an audio sent to the media that, if said resolution is confirmed, justice would be done both with Alberto Rodríguez and with the 65,000 Canarian men and women who voted for his candidacy.
Likewise, Manuel Marrero pointed out that the president of Congress should resign because her decision to remove Alberto Rodríguez’s seat would be a “serious scandal” as it was confirmed that he “ceded to pressure from the Judiciary”, assuming “an unacceptable political decision” and issuing a communication “without any legal motivation”.
According to Marrero, “we are facing a situation of unilateral act by Batet, which should assume its responsibilities if this information is confirmed.” He also added that they are clear that Alberto Rodríguez “was removed from his seat and expelled from Congress,” and pointed out that this lack of legal motivation “possibly is the basis of the decision that the TC assumes.”
