SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 12. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The mayor of Los Llanos de Aridane, Noelia García Leal, has asked the Government of Spain to exempt those affected by the volcano from paying the IBI for the year 2022, and has defended that it is essential “to continue implementing measures to help these families who are having such a bad time”.

According to the mayor, “we cannot forget that many of them have spent more time outside their homes this year than in it, and there are also still a large number of people who have not been able to return to their homes.”

Noelia García Leal has also asked the National Executive to at the same time implement the necessary measures so that this income that the Consistory will stop receiving is compensated in some way, and defends that “we need greater support from the Government of Spain” .

“Local administrations are drowning, experiencing very difficult situations, and we have fewer and fewer resources. We are working our asses off to meet the needs of our neighbors, because we cannot allow any Aridanian to be left behind because of the volcano,” he said. .

The councilor already requested during the first Mixed Commissions that this exemption measure be applied in the IBI corresponding to the year 2021, getting the Government of Spain to collect it in Royal Decree-Law 20/2021 of October 5.

Finally, from the City Council it is recalled that this government team “will continue to work, tirelessly, as it is doing in order to continue offering solutions to the victims, but we also need the National Executive to fulfill its promises in a timely manner “.
