SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 11. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The IES Puerto Cabras Rafael Báez has been awarded the Special Prize of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura of the Educational Film Festival of the Canary Islands (Cinedfest) for its short film ‘Enjaulados’.
The award was presented by the CEO of the Fuerteventura Film Commission, Rayco León, at a gala held this Friday at the Auditorio Insular de Fuerteventura, in Puerto del Rosario.
Rayco León congratulated the award-winning educational center and the rest of the participants, positively assessing a festival that has brought the youngest closer to a sector that is increasingly important in the Canary Islands and that is establishing itself on the Island.
“From Fuerteventura Film Commission we support this festival so that it has more and more repercussion on the Island. This type of initiative is essential for digital literacy for the little ones and for them to know the audiovisual language for their future”, added León.
For his part, the director of the Festival, David Cánovas, highly valued the high level of the educational centers of Fuerteventura with some short films that transmit values to society.
This educational initiative combines audiovisual training with a short film festival. A total of twelve educational centers on the island have participated in this edition of the Cinedfest during the school year, presenting 27 short films. The centers IES Corralejo, CEIP Lajares, CEIP Morro Jable, CEIP Agustín Millarés Carló, IES Corralejo, CEIP IES La Oliva, CEIP Puerto del Rosario, IES San Diego de Alcalá, EA Fuerteventura, IES Puerto Cabras Rafael Báez, IES Vigán and CEIP participated. The gala began at 7:00 p.m., after all the students went through a ‘photocall’, and lasted for two hours. All educational centers were presented with a poster of their short film in foam board.
In addition to the Cabildo de Fuerteventura Special Prize, two majorero centers will be at the final of Cinedfest that will be held on June 17 in Tenerife. These educational centers are the IES Puerto del Rosario (‘Paper Planes’) and IES Puerto Cabras Rafael Báez (‘Enjaulados’).
Among the awards that have already been announced are the award from the Government of the Canary Islands for sustainability and the environment for ‘The Cloud Factory’ by CEIP Lajares. Likewise, ‘Pisando Colores’ by CEIP Morro Jable has been selected as a finalist for the DISA Foundation awards.
In total, 535 short films have been presented between the Canary Islands, Peninsula and International (Mexico and Ecuador) sections. Of this total, 370 pieces were presented by educational centers in the Canary Islands. The short films can be viewed on the festival website (https://cinedfest.com/)
