Santa Cruz de Tenerife already has a new carnival queen. Ruth González Martín won the carnival scepter last night and did so with a design by Santi Castro entitled ¡¡Lírame!!, representing the Añaza Carrefour Shopping Center. A title that she received accompanied by the carnival queenswho were honored last night at the Gala, and in which, from the hand of the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, he collected the renewed carnival scepter.
The new Queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz will be accompanied by Yanira Morales, who, with the fantasy Together with me, by designer Sedomir Rodríguez, and on behalf of the Alcampo La Laguna Shopping Center, will be her first maid of honor. This candidate could not occupy the turntable due to the excessive weight of fantasy, which already damaged that part of the stage during rehearsals.
Jennifer María García won the second maid of honor with the fantasy Volver a soñar, with a design by Asociación Nira and on behalf of Malidente. The third maid of honor went to Marta González Pérez, with the fantasy of Daniel Pages, El cielo de fondo, and representing McDonald’s and El Día-La Opinion de Tenerife. The fourth maid of honor was Tania Pérez de la Rosa, who paraded in fifth place with a fantasy by Juan Carlos Armas called La Monarca and representing El Gusto por el Vino and Dormitorum.
Ruth González was proclaimed Queen at the reunion gala with Carnival, after two years of pandemic. Thus began the show directed by Enrique Camacho, pointing out that: “There is no greater science fiction for a carnival fan than a year without Carnival. Never more”. With this phrase began a Gala for the Election of the Queen that returned after two years, a Gala in which Carnival was seen, but perhaps not as much as could be expected, and which, to be fair, was gaining as it progressed the night.
A dedicated audience, eager for Carnival, gave it the warmth that the show perhaps lacked, very measured in time, very careful in the presentation, but lacking that emotion that is being experienced on the street, where forgetting the pandemic is what is wanted and that perhaps was too present at the Gala.
The good work of the presenters, especially Alexis Hernández, managed to overcome a show that, at times, was declining in interest. The beginning sought to honor the carnival people with the song composed for the occasion remembering the two years without Carnival, with images of different queens from previous years. Then, with his presence on stage, it was the beginning, in which there were no great effects, seeking to prioritize the emotion of the moment. The truth is that the best thing about the opening was the end of it, with the whole stage full of party and an audience applauding as well-deserved recognition to the older sovereigns, adults and children.
The appearance of the two main presenters of the Gala, Alexis Hernández and Laura Afonso, gave way to the first block of candidates, who presented, in turn, Magali Cáceres and Antonio Hernández, journalists from Televisión Canaria, and all earlier than expected in the runway of the show. After the first four candidates, a performance by the Musical Groups, and the following four candidates presented, this time, by Puchi Méndez and Javier Rodríguez. The rondallas gave way to the leading role of the female voices of the Carnival, with a high-quality performance. The last block of applicants was presented by Raquel Falcón and Fran Peraza.
This first section of the Gala ended with the eight finalists parading again on stage and giving way to the most dynamic and carnival part of a gala that kicks off Carnival.
