Hemodonation makes an urgent appeal to citizens to encourage donations

The Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)attached to the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islandshas today made an urgent appeal to citizens of legal age to encourage blood donations as soon as possible, given the need to balance the reserves of the Canary Transfusion Center to attend to hospital activity.

The ICHH once again thanks the population for its response to the appeals made in recent daysbut remember that hospitals in the Canary Islands require 300 daily blood donations to attend to both scheduled activity and emergencies.

Donations from all groups are needed right now, but especially urgent from groups A+, B+ and O+.

To donate blood you can go directly to the donation point or make an appointment by calling 012 or 922 470 012 / 928 301 012 (option 8), Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or by filling in the published form on the cover of the web effect donacion.com. Before going to donate, it is advisable to review the information published on this same web page in the Information and Protocol tab, to familiarize yourself with the established security measures and answer the self-assessment test to check if you can donate blood.

The ICHH also reminds that people vaccinated against COVID-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.

Where to donate in Tenerife

The municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna hosts next week a temporary donation room in the El Tranvía Multifunctional Space, at the intersection of La Cuesta with the General Santa Cruz-La Laguna highway. Donor service hours will be Monday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. .

In the south of the island, the municipality of Adeje, as the provincial headquarters of the World Blood Donor Day that is celebrated on that day, organizes a blood donation campaign on Tuesday, June 14, at the Adeje Cultural Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. In this same municipality, the mobile blood donation unit will be installed in the Leroy Merlín car park in Las Torres, to serve donors from 9:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

On the other hand, in the municipality of Arona, as of Friday, June 17, a temporary donation point will be set up at the Las Galletas Senior Center, on Consuelo Alfonso Díaz Flores street number 16A, which will serve donors aged 16 :30 to 8:15 p.m.

In the north of the island, the fixed donation point located in La Orotava, on the first floor of the Multicentro Comercial El Trompo (Sector 10, Las Arenas, exit 36 ​​of the TF-5) is still active on Monday, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., from Tuesday to Thursday in the afternoon shift, from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5:15 p.m. 30 hours.

Within the framework of the campaigns that the ICHH organizes with its collaborating entities, Group Number 1 organizes on Tuesday, June 14, its first donation campaign of the year with its staff at its facilities in Los Majuelos, in La Laguna.

Finally, a hemodonation team will visit the Hoya Fría Base, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, from Monday to Thursday, to facilitate the donation of blood to its military personnel in the morning.

As for the fixed points on the Island, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife you can donate blood at the ICHH headquarters on calle Méndez Núñez, number 14, from Monday to Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. 45 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. (except holidays).

In the southern region, the fixed point of the San Isidro Health Center, in Granadilla de Abona, is operational from Monday to Thursday, from 1:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (except holidays). Both points have a ford reserved for donors.

With regard to the fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network, at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands you can donate without an appointment from Sunday to Friday and holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. As for the Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, you can donate without an appointment from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., except holidays. It has a ford reserved for donors.

Where to donate in Gran Canaria

In the capital of Gran Canaria, the temporary collection point set up in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium, in the San Borondón Room, remains operational on Monday and Tuesday, which will serve donors on Monday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.: 00 hours and Tuesday from 9:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Within the framework of the campaigns that the ICHH organizes with the Ministry of Defence, a hemodonation team will visit the Naval Base of the capital of Gran Canaria to attend to the base’s troops on Tuesday and Wednesday in the morning.

On the other hand, the ICHH will visit the Miller Bajo Hiperdino facilities on Tuesday, June 14, to bring blood donation closer to its staff. It will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Also in the capital of Gran Canaria, a blood donation team will be available at the Social Security offices, in the Occupational Health Unit, to facilitate blood donation to the staff of the Treasury and the National Institute of Social Security on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Next week the ICHH will continue to be operational in the municipality of Ingenio, but this time it will be in the Los Molinillos Neighborhood Association, located on Calle Doramas, without a number. Donor service hours will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m., Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

In the municipality of Telde, the donation room set up in one of the Alcampo de La Mareta Shopping Center premises, together with the lottery administration, will be operational on Monday and Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and from Wednesday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. :00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Finally, in Santa Lucía de Tirajana, the donation room installed in the premises in front of the Parque de la Libertad (under the Justice of the Peace), in the Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente Park, will be operational Wednesday and Thursday from 4:15 p.m. 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 4:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

As for the fixed blood collection points, the ICHH makes its headquarters available to the population at calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, in the capital of Gran Canaria, from Monday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. 3:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., except holidays. In addition, it has a ford for donors.

You can also go to other fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network such as the Dr. Negrín University Hospital of Gran Canaria, from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the Hospital Universitario Materno-Infantil de Canarias, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria, where you can donate from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays. It has a ford for donors in all cases.

Where to donate in Lanzarote

The municipality of Tinajo hosts next week a temporary donation room at the Teleclub Mancha Blanca, located at number 3 Chimanfaya street, in the town of Mancha Blanca. Donor service hours will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., Tuesday to Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

In addition, the fixed blood donation point of the Canarian Transfusion Network at the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital remains operational. The hours at this point are from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. To donate it is necessary to make an appointment in advance at the number 928 59 55 72, option 3.

Where to donate in Fuerteventura

On Monday and Tuesday, a donation room will be opened in the Las Rotondas Shopping Center in Puerto del Rosario, on floor 3, local 33 (next to the Chinese Restaurant), which will serve donors from 3:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. .

As of Wednesday, the hemodonation team will move to the Puerto del Rosario Barracks where it will remain until Friday to facilitate the donation of blood to the military personnel of the base in the morning.

The fixed blood donation point of the Canarian Transfusion Network on the Island will also be operational, which is located in the General Hospital of Fuerteventura, located on the airport road, km 1, which will be open from Tuesday to Thursday. from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To donate, it is convenient to request an appointment at the number 928 546 684.

Where to donate on La Palma

The University Hospital of La Palma has a fixed collection point where you can donate from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., by appointment.

Where to donate in El Hierro

The Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de los Reyes has a fixed collection point where you can donate on Mondays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (except holidays), by appointment by calling 690 886 059 or 922 553 500.

Where to donate in La Gomera

The Hospital Insular Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe has a collection point where you can donate blood from Monday to Wednesday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and on Thursdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. except holidays), by telephone appointment by calling 922 140 200 or 922 140 213.
