The guest artist of the Santa Cruz Carnival Queen Election Gala, chanellcaptured yesterday, as it will tonight, all the attention of the press conference in which the show that will take place tonight was presented, starting at 9:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds, and which, according to its director, Enrique Camacho, “will be something completely new.”

Her dancers anticipated the arrival of the artist, who made her entrance in the press room of the Iberostar Mencey hotel, where she is staying, accompanied by her choreographer Kyle Hanagami; of the mayor of Santa Cruz, Jose Manuel Bermudez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, and the artistic director of the Gala, Enrique Camacho.

The artist was very disciplined when it came to revealing details of her performance, because she wanted it to be a real surprise. “We are very happy to get back on stage, creating again. I can only say that little things are coming, “said Chanel. Asked if she is excited to participate in the Carnival, she acknowledged that for her, being at the Gala “is something very special. I remember seeing her at home as a child and thinking that she wanted to be there”, although at that moment, she recognized her, she thought that she would be a candidate, “something that I do not rule out”, she commented with a laugh. “We are very happy to contribute our grain of sand, working with the troupes, with the Gala ballet and with the candidates. It is a great opportunity and we are very happy to be here,” she added.

Hanagami, who has traveled from the United States to participate in the Gala, intervened to praise Chanel, of which he said that it is very difficult to find in artists all the qualities that are found in her. “She is a great dancer, a great singer, a great artist, but above all, she is a great person and together, including the dancers, we form a great family,” she stressed.

The mayor highlighted the expectation aroused by the presence of the Eurovisionist Chanel at the Tenerife Carnival, so much so that “tickets for the Gala were sold out even before those for the murgas final”. He defended that Santa Cruz is at a historic moment, “with the recovery of street activities and with a Carnival in June that promises to be massive.” Bermúdez concluded by referring to the heat of June, “the same that Chanel will transmit to us at the Gala.”

For his part, Alfonso Cabello recalled that there are 12 days left for the street party, with the celebration of the “Sardine according to San Juan”, coinciding with the night of San Juan, “a unique moment after two years without being able to celebrate the Carnival”.

In addition, he recalled data such as the fact that all hotel and vacation home spaces are occupied on the dates of the Street Carnival: “There is an increase in maritime and air frequencies for those dates. So everything is ready to kick off a very atypical Carnival”.

For his part, Camacho highlighted the involvement of both Chanel and choreographer Kyle Hanagami “understanding, first of all, what Carnival is and what the groups that do it are, to adapt SloMo’s performance to a choreography that will surprise. If someone expects it to be the same as what they saw at Eurovision, they are very wrong. Above all, thank you very much for treating all the groups so well”.

During question time, Chanel revealed “the desire” that both she and her dancers have to get on stage. “It’s only been three weeks, but we needed to get on it now, it’s our language. The first sensations have been very good, it is a giant surface. It is true that it is very hot, but in general we have had very good feelings”. Although it cost her, she ended up admitting that she will wear a design by Leo Martínez for the Gala.

Regarding the possibility of coming to Tenerife, he pointed out that “when they called us, we didn’t even think about it, we wanted to be here”. Of course, she clarified that she will only perform one song, SloMo, but showing a new version of her success that has led her to be the artist of the moment in Europe.

Chanel said goodbye praising her team, of which she said that for her “it is very important, because together we can get more things”. She concluded by saying that “I take Kyle everywhere”.
