SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 9. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Councilor for Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Carmen Luz Baso, held a meeting with the island’s non-profit social entities to present them with the bases and criteria of the new call for aid aimed at promoting development of employment projects by associations, foundations and unions and for which a total budget of 2 million euros has been allocated.
During the meeting, held at the Cabildo, Carmen Luz Baso highlighted “the added value that these entities, due to their in-depth knowledge of the labor market and the territorial reality of the Island, can contribute to the strategy and actions that we are promoting from the Cabildo to combat unemployment”.
The minister stressed the importance of “reinforcing and joining public and private efforts to achieve a more effective solution to the needs of unemployed people, especially those who are in a situation of social exclusion or at risk of suffering from it, and to the demands of qualified personnel from the business sector”.
“In an environment like the current one, marked by an exceptional situation and an economy in the process of reactivating, it is important to coordinate efforts to improve the effectiveness of the actions we promote,” added the minister, who pointed out that the amount of aid per project varies between 50,000 and 300,000 euros, depending on their characteristics and the expected level of employment.
Baso recalled that in the previous call, which is financed with the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN), a total of 10 projects were promoted, with a total aid of 1.7 million euros.
In addition to improving the employability of the unemployed, the new call for subsidies aims to help diversify productive activities, especially those that have a greater capacity in the medium and long term to create jobs.
In this sense, the projects that are presented must be related to the promotion of the blue and green economy (sustainable agriculture, circular economy, promotion of the environment, etc.); industry and construction activities related to sustainability and energy efficiency (repairs, renewable energy, maintenance of buildings and facilities, etc.) the service sector (new technologies, active tourism, health, etc.) and the orange economy , that is, activities related to culture, art and creativity.
Likewise, all the projects that take part in this call must contain actions of orientation and theoretical training as practical in companies and estimate a percentage of labor insertion of the participating unemployed people.
Among the criteria that will be taken into account when selecting the projects, the level of insertion that is planned stands out, in addition to other aspects such as the geographical area in which it will be carried out, its innovative nature, its contribution to improving the environment , its capacity to diversify the productive fabric or the percentage of participation of women.
The period to apply for this grant opens from today, June 9, until July 8. Entities interested in participating in the call can consult the bases in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife on June 1.
