SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 9. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has verified four new cases under study for possible diagnosis of monkeypox since this Wednesday, of which one is probable and three are suspected.
This means that since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert, the number of confirmed cases has remained at 20 in the Canary Islands, 15 in Gran Canaria and five in Tenerife.
The new probable case under study has been reported in Tenerife and the new suspects are two from Gran Canaria and one from Lanzarote, the Ministry reports in a note.
All cases present mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
