Juan Ramón Martín has decided that he will not stand for re-election as mayor of Arafo in 2023, although he will run out of office. “In February of next year I will reach 15 years in politics, since I started as a trustee, eight as councilor and now four as mayor, and it is time to make way for others.”
“What has led me to make that decision, although it is still in the process of reflection, is the hard work of these years to end the municipal debt, and now that we have the necessary consensus, with the incorporation of the PSOE, it is the best moment to leave it”, without having had to see that this year he combines his work as mayor with that of a professor of Secondary in a Granadilla institute.
Although he points out that it will be the assembly of the Independent Association of Arafo that will appoint the head of the list for May 28, 2023, Martín points to Virginia Rodríguez Delgado as a possible candidate: “She is the first deputy mayor for a reason, an intelligent person and very well prepared administratively speaking, but I will not be the one who chooses her by hand”.
