The ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory It is a training program, practical and playful, whose purpose is to enhance the curiosity of students from 9 to 14 years of Arona. Its second edition will begin on July 27 and will end on August 5, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:20 p.m. It will have a maximum capacity of 60 students, 30 students per week, and will take place in the Cultural Center of Los Cristianos. Primary students will participate from July 27 to 29, while Secondary will develop it between August 3 and 5.
Three 115-minute scientific workshops will be held and will deal with chemistry, marine biodiversity, renewable energies, social sciences or robotics. In addition, there will be activities on mathematics, computational thinking and scientific storytelling. Those interested must reside in Arona and attend between 4th of Primary and 2nd of ESO. The registration period will be from May 20 to July 1 or until full capacity is reached.
The II ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory is part of the III Program of activities for the promotion of business innovation in the municipality of Arona, ARN INNOVA, promoted by the City Council and the University of La Laguna.
This is a pre-activity of the European Night of Macaronesian Researchers 2022 (MacaroNight), an initiative promoted by La Palma Research Center, the Afonso Chaves Society- Associação de Estudos Açoreanos, the Foundation of the Science and Technology Park of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the University of Madeira, General Foundation of the University of La Laguna. It is funded by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).
Is about an initiative to promote scientific careers in Europe, which is part of Horizon Europe, a framework program for Research and Innovation of the European Union, and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (Fecyt), which helps to promote scientific culture. In addition, in Tenerife it has the collaboration of the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society of the Government of the Canary Islands and CajaSiete.
The first edition of the ARN Innova Science and Technology Summer Laboratory was attended by 57 male and female students. This group of students then attended the third cycle of Primary Education and the first cycle of Secondary Education in the municipality.
