A group of 21 unemployed began yesterday to develop the Santiago del Teide project, reactivated, the result of collaboration between the Cabildo and the City Council. The mayor, Emilio Navarro, accompanied by the Councilor for Employment, Krysten Martín, welcomed those who during the next six months will carry out work in socio-sanitary matters, construction, gardening and commercial tourist revitalization, as sources of employment, says the government local.

Santiago del Teide, reactivates has a contribution from the Cabildo of 249,075 euros, through the 2021 call for direct subsidies to the island’s municipalities to support projects that contribute to achieving the objectives of sustainable development at the local level, as well as to improve its adaptability and resilience in order to progress in the diversification of the insular productive structure. The City Council contributes 5,000 euros.

The 21 direct beneficiaries have already been trained in generic and specific and complementary subjects in masonry courses, basic care of people in need of assistance, commercial tourism facilitators and maintenance of gardens and green areas.

The purpose of the Santiago del Teide, reactiva project is “to train unemployed people, many of whom come from other professional fields and who, therefore, want to access the labor market.”
