Chanel will be the guest artist at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Carnival Queen Election Gala, which will take place on June 10, starting at 9:30 p.m., at the Fairgrounds and will be broadcast live on Television Canaria and the International Channel of Spanish Television.
The singer and dancer, who for the Spanish public turned out with her ‘SloMo’ the moral winner of the Eurovision contest that was held on May 14 in Turin, has chosen Santa Cruz Tenerife to begin the series of professional commitments that they will maintain from from that moment his full agenda for the next few months.
For the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, “Chanel’s participation in the Gala is one more endorsement that our Carnival has an international category in which any world-class artist is proud to participate.”
“At the same time, we can say that we are committed to giving a show of a high level and global interest while maintaining the traditional and familiar flavor that all the groups of the Carnival bring, which, however, from what we have seen in the visits, exceed year after year,” he said.
The Councilor for Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, has revealed that the negotiations with Chanel “were started prior to the ‘chanelazo’ because we were confident that it would obtain a good classification but, also, because it always seemed to us a perfect option to give the Gala the guest at the height of the best Carnival in the world”.
“Not only is Chanel’s presence a tremendous opportunity to enjoy the artist, but “she will be accompanied by her choreographer, the world-renowned Kyle Hanagami, who will travel from Los Angeles to supervise the ballet, confirming that the presence of the artist on stage will be a performance of the first level and international category”, he added.
Born in Havana, when she was three years old her family moved to Spain. From the age of nine, she received singing and acting lessons, and ballet lessons according to the Royal Academy Of Dance system. At sixteen she began to take her first steps in the world of musical theater.
Chanel moved to Madrid to start her career as an actress and became known throughout the 2010s participating in different musicals, standing out in some well-known ones such as ‘Mamma Mia!’, ‘Flashdance’, ‘The bodyguard’ and ‘The Lion King’.
As a curiosity, it should be noted that she was among the five finalists for the character of Anita in the new film version of ‘West Side Story’, directed by Steven Spielberg, casting in New York before the famous director.
In Eurovision, it obtained third place with 459 votes (231 from the jury and 228 from the televote), for which it broke the record for points in Spain in the contest, and placed in the best position in the country since the 1995 edition. , broke another national record in Eurovision by achieving nine top scores: eight from the jury and one from the Greek televote.
