The delegated area of Foreign Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife has opened the call for aid to finance international cooperation projects for the development of non-governmental organizations, endowed with 400,000 euros.
This has been reported by the Island Corporation, which adds that this year it expands its field of action to Latin American countries such as Cuba, Venezuela and Uruguay, among others, in addition to African countries.
In this regard, the director of the area, Liskel Álvarez, explained that “this is a line of subsidies that will be used to promote projects of non-governmental organizations through which the improvement of the quality of life in needy countries is favored of this international cooperation and intervention to favor its development”.
“Priority consideration will be given to those countries on which the international development cooperation policy promoted by the Cabildo is focused,” he continued, “aligned with that of the Government of the Canary Islands, which prioritizes the West African countries geographically closest to the Canary Islands. , as well as those to which we are linked by special historical ties, such as Cuba, Venezuela and Uruguay, among other countries and territories that are experiencing serious difficulties and have a high rate of poverty”.
For its part, the rules that govern the call for grants are published in the BOP dated June 1, and both non-governmental development organizations and international development cooperation agents can apply, provided they have their permanent headquarters. in Tenerife, who will have a deadline to submit their applications until July 1.
Projects or actions initiated during the 2022 financial year that have a maximum duration of 18 months in their execution period will be eligible.
The amount of the subsidy for the projects that are presented may reach 100% of the total cost, in accordance with what is indicated in the regulatory bases, which includes aid of a minimum of 20,000 euros and a maximum of 60,000 euros for the execution of the proyects.
