The Rondalla Unión Artística El Cabo managed to win the first prize for Interpretation in the Rondallas Contest held today Saturday at the Guimerá Theater. In second place was the Rondalla Mamel’s Lyric Cultural Association, while the third prize went to Las Valkirias and second prize went to Peña del Lunes.
Regarding the Presentation section, the Rondalla Mamel’s Cultural Lyric Association won the first prize, with “Jester Saltimbanqui del Rey”; Masa Coral Tenerife, second prize with “Galactic Diplomacy”; third for Las Valkirias with the fantasy “Libertad”, and second prize for Unión Artística El Cabo with the fantasy “Pajes del Medievo”.
As for the award-winning soloists in this edition of the contest, they were in this order:
First prize, Besay Pérez, from the Artistic Union El Cabofor his intervention with “Bella Ciao”.
Second prize, Javier Hernández, from the Unión Artística El Cabo, for his intervention with “Rigoletto”.
Third prize, María Elisabeth García Pérez, from the Rondalla Mamel’s, for her intervention with “Don Carlo”.
Second prize for Victoria López Sosa, from Las Valkirias, for “La Tempranica”.
Unión Artística El Cabo also managed to win the Pulso y Púa award.
Faustino Torres Award for best musical arrangement, sponsored by Recambios Valladares, went to “Don Carlo”, from the Rondalla Mamel’s Cultural Lyric Association.
The award ceremony was carried out by the Councilor for Festivities of the Santa Cruz City Council, Alfonso Cabello; the Councilor for Social Action, Rosario González, and some of the candidates for adult queen of Carnival 2022.
The Rondallas contest of the Tenerife Carnival counted this year with the participation of a total of five rondallas, Las Valkirias, Pena del Lunes 1965, Unión Artística El Cabo, Masa Coral Tinerfeña and La Rondalla Lírica Group Mamel’s Association.
All of them had a maximum of 20 minutes to interpret their lyrical repertoires on the stage of the Tenerife Auditorium.

The jury to determine the Presentation prizes was made up of Cristo Rodríguez Torres, fashion and leather manufacturing technician, Pilar Blanco Altozano, plastic artist, professor of Fine Arts and member of the Association of Ceramicists of Tenerife; and Ana del Mar Rodríguez Rodríguez, dressmaker and teacher of pattern making and dressmaking at the Las Indias Comprehensive Vocational Training Center.
Those who judged the quality of the works and their execution were Jonay Mesa, guitar specialist, composer and producer; Lucía Ruiz Tavira, Professor of Singing at the Superior Conservatory of Music of Córdoba, specialist in choral performance and Enrique García Requena, Senior Professor of Singing at the Madrid Conservatory, choir director, musical director of Classics of Lyric at DAO Producciones, director of the Pulse and Púa Orchestra of the Complutense University and director of the Rondalla Lírica de Madrid.
The artist who performed at the moment of public deliberation is Sislena Caparrosa, the young woman is a singer who won the Telecinco talent contest You are worth it in 2013 performing nessun slept of the opera Turandot and that has been linked from a very young age to the Chicharrero Carnival.
