SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 1 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Secretary of Organization of the PSOE Canarias, Nira Fierro, has urged the Popular Party in the Islands and, particularly, its leader Manuel Domínguez to position himself with respect to the demonstrations carried out by his partner in Andalusia Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, criticizing the funds collected for Canary Islands in the Comprehensive Employment Plan (PIEC) of 2022.
Nira Fierro has pointed out in a press release that the new Comprehensive Employment Plan for the Canary Islands, signed this Wednesday by President Ángel Víctor Torres and Minister Yolanda Díaz, “should be welcome news for all the municipalities of the Archipelago, without distinction of the color of the party that governs them, since the generation of employment is always accompanied by well-being and progress”.
“That is why I would like to know what Manuel Domínguez’s opinion is about these demonstrations. I don’t know what interests the Popular Party is defending, and if Mr. Domínguez thinks the same, he will not be defending the interests of the Canary Islands,” said Fierro.
For the socialist leader, “the PIEC is the symbol of the commitment of the Government of Pedro Sánchez with the specificity of the Canary Islands, in contrast to the lack of sensitivity shown by the popular ones, who in the time of Mariano Rajoy came to suppress this important resource, which It is an example of interterritorial solidarity and provides an opportunity for life to those who need it most”.
“It is a fact that the Canary Islands are on the path to recovery,” underlined the secretary of the Canary Socialist Organization, “with data such as the fact that for the first time in 14 years unemployment on the islands is below 200,000 people or that more than 50% of the new contracts are indefinite, as a result of the recent labor reform promoted by the central government,” he added.
“Data that invite hope and optimism, but it is clear that we must continue working to improve these figures, since any unemployed person we have requires the maximum efforts of those of us who are responsible for public management and resources”, Nira Fierro pointed out.
He pointed out that the 42 million euros collected in this new Plan will make it possible to offer a job and training opportunity for 5,000 people on the eight islands and, with this, continue advancing towards a fairer Canary Islands with better future prospects.
