SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 1 (EUROPE PRESS) –
Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the Canarian Foundation of the University of La Laguna (FGULL), have signed a collaboration agreement to finance the public transport of the students who participate in the ‘Ponos de Orientation and First Employment Opportunity for Young People of Tenerife’, promoted by the Education and Youth area of the Island Council.
The Minister of Transport, Enrique Arriaga, explained that this agreement is part of Titsa’s social responsibility policy, which will provide 180 ‘tenmás’ cards, preloaded to facilitate the transfer of students from the program who, on many occasions, do not have resources to travel to the place where the training is given.
The island councilor for Youth, Concepción Rivero, stresses that thanks to ‘Ponos’ hundreds of young people on the island will have their first job opportunity, a project in which a hundred companies have been involved in which the users of this project.
Likewise, Titsa undertakes to carry out at least two activities with young people participating in the project in dynamics related to the search for employment in the company, in addition to guided visits to the facilities that allow them to know what it is like to work in the bus company, collects a Council note.
PONOS PROJECT
The main objective of the project is to promote the employment of young people between 16 and 35 years of age and the improvement of their socio-personal skills through the development of an innovative methodology adjusted to young people.
Over the last year, the project has served 950 young people, of whom 429 are actively participating thanks to the collaboration of 97 companies that have made a decisive contribution to ‘Ponos’ and the employment of this group.
In addition, it is developed by the University of La Laguna through its General Foundation, in collaboration with the city councils of six municipalities: Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Los Realejos, Guía de Isora, Candelaria, Arona and San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
