Santa Cruz shields itself against the dirt of the Carnival

The City Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has reported this Wednesday that it will take measures to preserve the gardens and heritage during the carnival celebration in the capital.

To do this, different ornamental fountains in the capital will be fenced off in order to prevent their deterioration, the City Council said in a statement.

There will also be a security and emergency device that will be activated once the Carnival acts begin in the street, as in previous years, all police resources will be distributed throughout the Quadrilateral.

In the security and emergency device of the Carnival There will be members of the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard and General Corps of the Canarian Police, supported from the area of ​​the Port of Tenerife by the Port Police.

Specific cleaning and security devices will also be activated for June 17, 18 and 19, when different concerts will be held on La Roche Avenue, such as the Carlinhos Brown performance, as well as the Culture&Pride and Eurorainbow festivals.

The councilors of Festivities and Public Services of the Santa Cruz City Council, Alfonso Cabello and Carlos Tarife, respectively, together with the head of Culture, Gladis de León, and technicians from the Security area and the rest of the areas involved, held a meeting this morning to coordinate the areas related to the organization of Carnival 2022, which starts this Friday with the opening ceremony, at the Fairgrounds.

The Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, has stated that “from the City Council an organizational effort will be made to minimize the effects of the massive presence of people in streets and squares on these dates, which will have different peculiarities from those of other years when be held in summer and all in one weekend”, and added that “for this we must coordinate all this work and that there is a good performance from each of the councils involved”.

While the mayor of Fiestas, Alfonso Cabello, has pointed out that “we are undoubtedly facing an unprecedented organizational challenge, the celebration of a condensed weekend of Carnival, the return to the street, in which there will be a Burial of the Sardine, Cavalcade, two Day Carnivals and two at night, as well as the Rhythm and Harmony contest”.

Alfonso Cabello stressed that “it is a first-level challenge for the city to coordinate the arrival of tens of thousands of tourists and visitors from all over the archipelago, Spain and all of Europe and find the best face of Santa Cruz during the day. , clean and in conditions to receive them”.

Santa Cruz will have an extensive cleaning device designed by the City Council and the company Valoriza SL for this Carnival. The objective is for the capital to recover its daily appearance in the shortest possible time, once each festive day has elapsed and taking into account the peculiarities of this year’s edition.

The City Council will undertake numerous actions so that 2022 is a Carnival as clean as possible, and with initiatives that favor recycling.

The concessionary company of the municipal cleaning service will carry out a specific device to clean the surface of the ring, at the end of each night of the Carnival.

In addition, it will launch a different operation at the conclusion of each of the scheduled street parades, such as the Cavalcade or the Burial of the Sardine.
