The mayor of Los Realejos, Manuel Domínguez, announced yesterday that he will present his resignation to the Mayor’s Office after holding this position since 2011 with three consecutive absolute majorities and now focused on his new role as president of the PP of the Canary Islands.

Two plenary sessions will be held next week. The first of them will be on Wednesday the 8th, when the Municipal Corporation officially becomes aware of the aforementioned resignation, and the second, on Saturday the 11th, when the change in the Mayor’s Office takes place with the inauguration of the new mayor, Adolfo González Pérez-Siverio, who since 2011 has been first deputy mayor.

“I resign from the Mayor’s Office of Los Realejos and I do so with all the pain in my soul, with great enthusiasm in the face of a new challenge, but this has been my town and it still is, a place that has carried me on wings, from the moment I that I turned on the microphone on that side of the plenary for the first time, until I went through the opposition and reached the dream of being mayor of my municipality, submitting myself to two other citizen evaluations and revalidating the position on two separate occasions and with growing support”, valued Manuel Domínguez at the beginning of his speech. “This municipality, which I love and will always love, has been making me a man with political reference outside its borders and that for me has incalculable value, for what they have given me and the affection with which the realejeros have treated me” , he added.

“It has been 11 years – continued Domínguez – in which I have dedicated all the best I know how to do, that people feel proud of their town, that outside of here there is a lot of good talk about Los Realejos, and that is something that nobody he can deny us, so presiding over this municipality, being its mayor, is an honor, it is the most beautiful thing that politics has given me”, he expressed excitedly.

As Manuel Domínguez stressed, “Adolfo González is the person who has been with me from the very beginning, the thinking head of this municipal government, the father of so many ideas, the shoulder I have leaned on when I have needed and the man who has thrown the handbrake when he played, the one who has to assume the baton is undoubtedly him, the best for Los Realejos to continue being what it is”.
