Agents of the National Police have arrested three young people between 28 and 34 years of age, all with police records, as alleged perpetrators of two crimes of robbery with violence or intimidation committed in Puerto de la Cruz. In addition, one of them is also credited with the alleged authorship of a crime of theft committed on Punta Brava beach in the city of Buenos Aires.
The National Police investigators received two different complaints that reported two violent robberies committed in a similar way.
In one of the cases, a 73-year-old man had been followed at night on his way home by three young men. These, when they reached an uncrowded place, jumped on him from behind and seized his shoulder bag.
In the other, a couple of days later, at the bus station, a 35-year-old man was approached by two young men while another strangled him from behind until he lost consciousness. In this way they stole a smartphone.
The investigators, after carrying out the necessary procedures, identified the alleged perpetrators; three men with police records. In addition, one of them was attributed the theft to the carelessness of the backpack, which contained two smartphones valued at 1,700 euros, from a tourist on Punta Brava beach.
The investigators detained them in the town and, after completing the police proceedings, handed them over to the competent judicial authority, which ordered one of them to be imprisoned.
The actions were carried out by national police officers from the Puerto de la Cruz and Los Realejos police stations.
