Rosa Dávila and Alexis Gómez, regional deputy and municipal spokesperson for CC in Arona, respectively, demand from the Government of the Canary Islands the “immediate completion” of the works of the Secondary School that is being built in Parque de la Reina to replace IES Guaza. Both accuse the regional Executive of “lying again” to the educational community because they understand that “it is totally impossible” for the works -68% are executed- to conclude on June 30, as he responded in parliament.
The nationalists make this statement after a visit to the work. Dávila points out that “this is one more example that the Executive of Ángel Víctor Torres has once again disrespected the parents of the educational community of IES Guaza and its teachers.”
He recalled that a year ago, in another visit to the IES Guaza with representatives of the educational community and the affiliated centers (CEIP Parque La Reina and CEIP El Fraile), he pointed out that the Canarian president “promised, on December 27, 2019, that would solve the paralyzation of the construction of the new institute. However, more than three years have passed and the students are still in the IES Guaza barracks.
Dávila valued the management of his political formation by emphasizing that it was with the previous Government of the Canary Islands, led by CC, “when this situation was put to an end, putting out to tender the construction project for the new institute, negotiating with the City Council the acquisition of land and commencement of works. The deputy points to the PSOE and her arrival in the Government as the moment in which “the works were paralyzed without any explanation, an ordeal that has already lasted more than two years.”
The construction of the new IES Guaza should have been completed in January 2020, “but currently 68% of the work has been carried out by the winning company, which three years ago proposed a modification of the project and an upward revision of the budget ».
