SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Yesterday, Friday, seven of the eight islands of the Canary Archipelago hosted a simultaneous flag lowering by different units of the 16th ‘Canarias’ Brigade of the Canary Islands Command of the Army, including the island of La Graciosa, within the acts and activities on the occasion of Armed Forces Day 2022.
This act has not been carried out in Tenerife, since on June 4 a flag lowering is planned in Santa Cruz as the central act of the Day of the Armed Forces on the Island.
The lowering of the flag has been carried out in Villa de Teror (Gran Canaria); Castillo de San Gabriel, Arrecife (Lanzarote); Puerto de Caleta de Sebo, La Graciosa; Insular Directorate, Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura); Valverde (El Hierro); Park of the Torre del Conde, San Sebastián de La Gomera, and Plaza del Ayuntamiento de Santa Cruz de La Palma.
These acts have been attended by different civil and military authorities of each island, making the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces come to each one of them, which, like every year, aims to bring the values of effort, vocation and service closer to society with the purpose of underlining the identification of the Armies with the Spanish people.
This year, under the slogan ‘1982-2022, forty years of active participation in NATO’, Spain’s membership and contribution to the Atlantic Alliance, its commitment to international security and the contribution of the Spanish Armed Forces to international stability and our security and defense.
