SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The assembly of the PSOE of Los Llanos de Aridane has unanimously re-elected Alicia Vanoostende as general secretary of the local group. The also Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands continues as head of the new municipal executive.
The new executive, who obtained the support of the group as well as the management report of the outgoing team, is made up of “a great team of women and men, who combine experience with youth, to face the challenges that presents Los Llanos de Aridane and the Valle region, marked by the consequences of the volcanic eruption,” said Vanoostende.
Alicia Vanoostende thanked the Los Llanos de Aridane socialist group for its support in continuing to lead what she considers “the best project for the social and economic progress of the municipality, at a time of extreme difficulty for the town and the region as a whole, as a consequence of the volcanic eruption.
“We are going through a very complex time, after suffering an unprecedented natural catastrophe, which has affected our environment and way of life, and we must all do our best and work harder than ever to rebuild the Aridane Valley with as quickly as possible,” stressed the socialist leader, who stressed that the PSOE of Los Llanos de Aridane “has a great team, the best, to set the course for socioeconomic growth that the municipality needs.”
Vanoostende had in mind during his speech the residents of Los Llanos de Aridane who have lost their homes, farms or businesses due to the destructive action of the laundry; to the disappeared neighborhoods and those that continue to be isolated as a result of the presence of gases, in short “to those who have suffered the direct or indirect consequences of the volcano and with whom we maintain an unbreakable pact for the reconstruction of their vital projects. That is our maximum commitment, our unbreakable pact with the citizens of Los Llanos: the reconstruction of the Aridane Valley”, he stated.
In this line, he highlighted the effort being made by the colleagues, both from the Cabildo de La Palma, the Government of Spain and from the Government of the Canary Islands, in coordination with local administrations, to achieve a “fair” recovery of the Island .
