Canarias will rehabilitate the Casona Delgado Oramas to turn it into a school hotel. The Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, through Tourism of the Canary Islands, will allocate 1.6 million euros to the rehabilitation of the Casona Delgado Oramas de San Juan de la Ramblawhich will become the first school hotel in the north of Tenerife.
The drafting of this project has already been put out to tender under the heading Drafting of the Execution Project and Construction Management for the Rehabilitation of the Casa Delgado Oramasas announced by the Mayor of the Villa de San Juan de la Rambla, Ezequiel Domínguez.
The Minister of Tourism, Yaiza Castilla, indicated that this action “combines the firm commitment to a constant process of renovation and modernization in line with the protection and conservation of heritage”. He also highlighted the importance of the future use as a school hotel that will act “as a catalyst for the area by providing essential quality training to maintain the tourism competitiveness of the Canary Islands in the international market.”
Through this project, financed 100% by the Ministry of Tourism, it is possible rescue the iconic property from ruin and provide it with a new functionality that will have a direct impact on the employability and tourist development of the ramblero town. The forecast duration of the service contract object of these specifications is 33 months. The main estimated time milestones of the same are the drafting of the project, with a duration of 6 months and the construction management, estimated at 27 months.
“The Ramblero Heritage is in luck thanks to this news. Each of the residents of the municipality must applaud the sensitivity of the Tourism Department of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Department of Tourism Infrastructure, to whom we thank for their commitment for two main reasons The first, because with the investment it will prevent the collapse of one of the most characteristic buildings of 18th century architecture and the second, because after the work, we will have a rural school hotel that promises to be the axis of economic development , social and tourist of the region”, highlighted the mayor.
The proposed works consist of the recovery of the building for its use, taking special care to respect the original state typical of the time. Secondly, each floor will be adapted to the needs of the hotel, with the basement used as a warehouse, the ground floor as common areas for accommodation, dining room, reception, garden, swimming pool, solarium and tourist information. The first floor for the rooms, all double and with private bathroom and the covered floor for two special rooms with terrace.
Located on Calle La Alhóndiga, the building has 594 m2, being built in the third quarter of the 18th century. It has two floors and a third interior floor that is distributed around a main patio that is accessed by two hallways. The backyard is made up of a long open gallery with a tile roof, flagstone floor, tea wood and still, giving access to a large garden. The exterior represents a mixture of the architecture of the time and the 19th century after the façade was renovated after the flood of 1826.
