The Canarian artist Anaé has released today, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the song’s release, a new version of the song Santa Cruz in Carnival, to make it the official song of the current edition of the carnival. The song’s author, Agustín Ramos, has entrusted the artist with the responsibility of celebrating this anniversary, since Anaé’s artistic career and her association with the Tenerife Carnival over the last 10 years have made her an essential the chicharrera partybeing present in all the editions presenting songs composed ad-hoc for the occasion.

The Councilor for Festivities of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Alfonso Cabello, believes that “we could not have a happier reissue than this one by Anaé, due to the circumstances that occur in this Carnival, due to the anniversary of the song and due to the implications emotional that the song has for all the chicharreras and chicharreros. Without a doubt, this release will put a deeply rooted song back in the limelight.”

Anaé (Barranco Hondo, Tenerife, March 19, 1985) is a Latin pop style singer and songwriter. It can be said that Anaé has been linked to the world of music all her life since in her childhood she took her first steps in the Rondalla Infantil San José and later the Chajoigo Folkloric Group. In 2008 she released her first record work today for your lovein which he ventures into various musical styles, and with which he performs in different parts of the Canary Islands.

In 2011 it comes to light Simply Braulio, an album recorded in Puerto Rico with music producer Ramón Sánchez. It includes the greatest hits of the Canarian singer-songwriter Braulio covered in salsa as well as a duet between the two singers. As the first single is released a woman like me. With this album, Anaé undertakes a promotional tour of Latin America and the United States where, among others, she visits Miami and New York with her music.

From then on he begins to release singles to the market. In 2012 she records I know you little mask together with Rafael Flores “El Morocho”, his first theme for the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and they follow him in different years and in relation to the Carnival dance either paint your face, a self-composed theme. In between, tours of the United States, video clip recordings and an unstoppable career. After a period of musical inactivity, the singer returns with Volver a Ser, a commitment to live music, recording up to four singles live, giving importance solely and exclusively to the real sound, thus capturing the best of her staging and voice. Her intention is to show the naturalness and enthusiasm with which she lives this new stage accompanied by an orchestra made up of eleven musicians. Salsa, son and bolero are the styles that will mark this journey, without a doubt, a sign of her musical identity.

Agustín Ramos is the composer of Santa Cruz in Carnival, a score that is popularly considered unofficially the anthem of the festival and for which the City Council of the capital of Tenerife awarded the musician the Opelio Rodríguez Peña award, the highest distinction awarded by the Municipal Corporation. Also born in Barranco Hondo, Candelaria, in 1941, his musical beginnings were with the Columbia orchestra, in which he began when he was only ten years old. He composed the song in the midst of the fall of the Franco regime. To the rhythm of the samba of the Nicanrandy orchestra, the song was so successful that it has been covered countless times. In the 80s of the last century, all the orchestras on the island already included composition in their repertoire; several rondallas also adapted it to his parade; the Nifú Nifá aphilharmonic made a version and in 1986 the renowned Billo’s Caracas Boys orchestra made a version that turned it into an anthem when a year later, along with Celia Cruz, they sang it in front of 250,000 people in an open-air plaza. From then on, everything is history, and the versions have not stopped happening until this anniversary in which Anaé has once again put a song on the shuttle that seems as young as the first day despite her years.
